North artist wants his music to inspire others

Tshepiso Mohase (23), born and raised in Soshanguve, has been making music since high school.

A north hip hop artist recently shared his journey music journey.

Tshepiso Mohase (23), born and raised in Soshanguve, has been making music since high school.

“Singing was not something I wanted to do when I grew up. It just happened. I became interested in music and I gave it a try,” said Mohase.

Mohase said there are a lot of talented people who are not confident enough to show off their talents.

“I want my music to encourage a lot of people to take initiative and show their talent,” he said.

“It takes so much courage to start something new. You do not know what to expect from people but you have to be open minded to accept criticism from anyone.”

“Not everybody is going to like what you do, but a person needs to be unshakable and have faith in themselves,” said Mohase.

Mohase said one of the many difficulties a musician faced was that they are mostly taken for granted.

“Most of the people often take being taken for granted as a disadvantage, but I took it as motivation to try harder and not give up,” he said.

“I got inspired by people who find comfort in the music that I do, people who are looking up to me, and my family,” said Mohase.

He said he sees music as a universal language.

His target market is everyone who finds his music appealing regardless of age, colour or gender.

“I did not go to a music school. I learned how to rap and sing through watching YouTube channels and downloading demos for free styling.”

He has performed with Vigro deep, Master KG and Pencil and Zing Master at the summer event.

He would like to bring change to the music world by having more collaborations with other artists, but also wants to be recognised as an artist.

In the next five years Mohase plans to see himself known worldwide.

“Music is my calling. My vision is to see a lot of people being encouraged through my music. I want to see a lot of people grow from what I offer with my music,” he said.
