Metro police fire rubber bullets at ‘destructive protesters’

It was not clear what the people were protesting about, but they allegedly caused damage to the Tshwane House infrastructure.

Shots were fired during a protest in Madiba Street outside Tshwane House on Monday afternoon.

This is after unknown protestors damaged the gates of Tshwane House uprooted the walkways paving and used the bricks to barricade the street.

The attack on Tshwane House infrastructure led the metro police to fire rubber bullets at the hundreds of protesters in order to disperse them.

Metro police spokesperson Isaac Mahamba said it was not clear why the men and women were protesting.

“It’s not clear now (why they are protesting), however, they have dispersed.

“We will continue to monitor the situation.”
