Tshwane bus commuters left stranded as workers plan to strike

“To ensure the safety of commuters, and to safeguard the assets of the city, all services will be halted.”

Tshwane bus service passengers have had their transport mode disrupted due to a planned workers’ strike on Monday.

“The city of Tshwane is informing commuters that due to the possibility of a workers’ strike today, all bus services will be suspended,” said MMC Sheila Lynn Senkubuge.

She said the bus services were suspended until further notice.

The illegal strike was allegedly due to workers being unhappy with the pace at which the process of conducting benchmarking salaries was taking place.

“To ensure the safety of commuters, and to safeguard the assets of the city, all services will be halted,” said Senkubuge.

She advised bus commuters who use this service to make alternative means for transport until further updates.

“Communication regarding further developments on the possible strike will be shared in due course,” Senkubuge said.
