NEWSFLASH: Some CBD roads still blocked despite deal

The metro said it and labour unions had reached an agreement.

There are unconfirmed reports that some roads in the Pretoria CBD remain blocked with rocks and litter because of the municipal workers strike.

This despite an agreement reached between the metro and unions to end the strike.

Social media reports claimed Thabo Sehume and Struben streets are yet to be cleared.

The Tshwane metro last night announced it and the South Africa Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) and Independent Municipal Allied Trade Union (IMATU) had reached an agreement.

“The unprotected strike has been terminated,” said the metro.

“Details to follow. We’ll work tirelessly to restore services.”

A media briefing on the issue will be held at 12:00 today.

Tshwane metro police could not be reached for comment.
