The Pretoria Central police had a busy weekend in which they removed 76 suspects from the streets.
Spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said the police arrested various suspects for crimes ranging from theft, fraud, assault GBH, possession of an unlicensed firearm to possession of suspected stolen property, among others.
Selepe said the theft out of motor vehicle crimes have been problematic of late.
“The cases of general theft and theft out of motor vehicles have become common recently and it is advised that all people using motor vehicles without secure parking in the CBD should consider these safety tips before leaving their motor vehicles.
“Do not leave any valuables visible on seats or dashboard, rather use the car boot and after pressing the lock button on the car key, apply an effort to make sure that the car is locked by physically pulling the doors,” Selepe said.
