SPORT: New AmaTuks coach seeks improvement

"Our players might be smallish, but they are quick, skilful and creative. So I am confident that they will create scoring opportunities.”

Newly-appointed AmaTuks coach Zipho Dlangalala aims to get the best out of his players ahead of Saturday’s match against Witbank Spurs.

Dlangalala is out to prove that the current the National First Division log is not an accurate reflection of AmaTuks’ playing abilities.

Amatuks are 11th in the log but are only three points away from safety having only won five of the 18 games played sort far.

On Saturday, the students will host the rejuvenated Witbank Spurs at the Tuks stadium, Hatfield.

A win for AmaTuks will see them climb to ninth in the log, boosting their chances of survival but anything less than a win could mean trouble going forward.

Spurs are led by former Bafana Bafana mentor Shakes Mashaba.

Dlangalala, however, said he was realistic as to what awaited him and the team.

“Witbank Spurs is on a high since the former Bafana coach, Shakes Mashaba, took charge. I see Saturday as a 50/50-game. Spurs got big robust players who tend to prefer the option of playing the high ball. It would be foolish to take them on in their own game especially since they won their last game,” he said.

Dlangalala said he wanted his players to play to their strengths and create goal scoring opportunities.

“I want the AmaTuks players to play to their strengths. Our players might be smallish, but they are quick, skillful and creative. So I am confident that they will create scoring opportunities.”
