UPDATE: ‘DA antics similar to StratCom’ – Mosola

“This leaking of a Council Report by the DA is not only totally inappropriate and undignified behavior only aimed at tarnishing my good name and reputation in an attempt to get rid of me.”

Embattled city manager Moeketsi Mosola has accused the DA of employing underhanded tactics by leaking a preliminary report to the media.

This after a report, which he had successfully interdicted from being tabled in council, was leaked to two media houses.

Mosola headed to the Labour Court in Johannesburg last week to block the report into alleged tender irregularities he is implicated in.

He described the report as “bogus” although he claimed he has not seen it yet and had no knowledge of its contents.

Only the DA and office of the mayor have received the preliminary report, Mosola claimed.

However, he said he was blocking it because it was “unlawful” as he had not been given an opportunity to share his side of the story.

“The little that I have seen of the report are notes from inquiries by both newspapers in what they claimed to be findings of the report thus rendering it bogus,” he said.

“It is shocking and disturbing that the DA, a governing party in the City of Tshwane that claims to respect the rule of law, has chosen to leak a council report to the media – a serious transgression against the court interdict.

“The least I expected from Solly Msimanga and the DA government in Tshwane was to respect the law instead of blatantly defying the court instructions and acting illegally and unlawfully.”

He said these antics are “similar” to that of Apartheid-era Stratcom’s.

It is “aimed at tarnishing my good name and reputation in an attempt to get rid of me”, he said.

Mosolo said he wants to “hear what all other political parties in council have to say about the illegal leaking of the report ”.

Mayoral spokesperson Samkelo Mgobozi the DA administration would not be drawn into spurious allegations levelled against them.

“If he [Mosolo] has proof of unlawful conduct he must produce the evidence and dispense with this bluster,” said Mgobozi.
