Exhibition to help human trafficking survivors

The exhibition will raise funds to help survivors of abuse and rape.

An art exhibition to raise funds for human trafficking survivors will be held at the Choose Life church in Moreleta.

The exhibition named Hope for Love will help survivors who found refuge at a restoration home called Our Home after they were brutally abused and raped in a trafficking ring.

Our Home is situated in Faerie Glen and is run by Vilna Badi who for 13 years has been walking the streets of Sunnyside and Arcadia reaching out to children, the homeless, drug addicts and “everyone that needed a friend.”

She formed an outreach ministry that preached to various people in the streets.

One day while working in the streets, her eyes caught a young girl on the street corner.

“When I looked into her eyes, it broke my heart” she explained.

“I knew this was a girl hated by women and wanted by men but I saw just a little girl in need of love,” Badi said.

A few years ago Badi opened her home to help sick and in need trafficked women.

She said she later realised the women also needed skills development.

“The Hope for Love Fundraiser evening is an initiative to raise the funds that will help change the stories of these ladies,” she said.

Badi said her mission was to pioneer a more effective method for care and assistance in supporting women “trapped in the industry”.
