Thousands of train commuters were left stranded.
Thousands of Metrorail train commuters were left stranded at the Eerste Fabrieke train station in Mamelodi on Monday because of violent protests.

Taxi, as well as bus commuters, were also affected by the protests in Mamelodi and Nellmapius.

Trains scheduled for Pienaarspoort had to be turned back at the Eerste Fabrieke train station, said Gauteng Metrorail.

Gauteng Metrorail could not be reached for comment at the time of going to press as to when train services at these stations would be restored.
