NEWSFLASH: 3 dead after fatal Bronkhorstspruit accident

Sammy, a puppy, was also involved in the accident, but has been missing since then.

Two people were left dead when two vehicles collided head-on on the R25 in Bronkhorstspruit at the weekend.

One of its owners, Michelle Brits passed away at the scene and her partner, Louis Engelbrecht is in a critical condition.

A source, who asked to remain anonymous, said the couple were on their way back from Cape Town.

“It was his [Engelbrecht’s] birthday a few days prior and they were at his parents for the special occasion,” the source said.

The driver of the other vehicle also passed away at the scene.

“He had a 14-year-old passenger in the bakkie. She also passed away last night,” Engelbrecht family spokesperson Niel van Zyl said.

Engelbrecht’s condition and injuries were described as serious.

“His right upper arm and leg were broken, the lungs and kidney were also damaged,” Van Zyl said.

It was also said that Engelbrecht’s liver was not functioning as it should.

Van Zyl also said the family was pleading with the public to raise funds for Engelbrecht’s medical costs.
