Garsfontein cops nab would-be burglars

Quick reaction by police and local security company leads to arrest of four attempted robbers.

The quick response by a security company and police led to the arrest of four would-be burglars in the east of Pretoria this week.

The four suspects from Soweto were arrested with burglary implements such as crowbars and gloves as well as false registration plates on Monday, according to Garsfontein police spokesperson Captain Ilze Jones.

Bull Security, a local security company, received an alert to be on the lookout for a “suspicious” motor vehicle.

The car was spotted and chased through Moreleta Park by Bull Security members and the police before it was trapped in a cul-de-sac.

It was alleged the men, aged between 27 and 34, had other cases pending against them.

“They could possibly be linked with break-ins and other crimes in Centurion and the West Rand area,” said Jones.

The men were expected to appear in court soon.
