Update: Bronkhorstspruit man better after farm attack

Benadie, who is believed to be in his 30s, arrived on the scene in an attempt to assist his father, but got shot in the upper body.

A Bronkhorstspruit farmer was recovering on Thursday after he was shot and wounded in a farm attack earlier in the week.

Allewyn Benadie was hit in the upper body as he was rushing to his father’s aid on Wednesday.

Seven men invaded the farm armed with knives and guns and stabbed Benadie’s father to death.

“He (Benadie senior) was stabbed in the chest and died on the scene,” said AfriForum national operations co-ordinator Marius Miller.

Benadie, who is believed to be in his 30s, arrived on the scene in an attempt to assist his father, but got shot in the upper body.

“He was shot, but it was only a flesh wound and he is receiving medical treatment.”

The armed men demanded money and fled in the family car.

The vehicle was later recovered.

Miller said no arrests had been made by Thursday.
