It is alleged that four suspects committed a house robbery in the Nebo district in Limpopo, and sped off in a blue VW Polo and headed towards Pretoria.

The vehicle was fitted with a tracker and police were alerted, police spokesperson Captain Johannes Maheso told Rekord.

“The flying squad police patrolling in Mamelodi were notified that the vehicle was passing through the Kameeldrift area heading towards Mamelodi,” said Maheso.

Police spotted the car at the intersection of Tsamaya and Ledwaba roads in Mamelodi East and gave chase.

A shootout ensued between police and the suspects, during which the suspects’ car overturned.

Two men managed to escape while the other two were trapped inside the vehicle.

“One of the men trapped inside the vehicle was certified dead by paramedics at the scene,” said Maheso.

The police are still looking for the other two men.
