Sundowns warn of scammers

Sundowns have received multiple reports of fake accounts representing players and staff.

Mamelodi Sundowns have warned fans against fraudsters “selling trials” with the club.

According to the club, unknown people claiming to be club officials advertised club trials and were soliciting funds from aspirant footballers who wanted to attend the trial.

“It has come to the attention of Mamelodi Sundowns that there are unscrupulous individuals taking money from youth players for trials at the club,” said Sundowns head of academy Shawn Bishop.

“Sundowns does not hold open trials or charge identified players to come to the club on trial. Players are scouted or identified at tournaments.

Please do not request any trials on the club’s website. Sundowns have an extensive scouting network that identifies players to join the academy.”
