Unisa donates sanitary towels to Mams centre

University employees gives back to the community.

Unisa employees recently donated toiletries and sanitary pads to Bophelong Children’s Centre in Mamelodi East.

The university’s Martin Ramotshela said the donation was a demonstration that the staff did not only care about education but also about the wellbeing of communities.

He said the staffers had made the donation from their own pockets to give back to the community and identified the centre had been identified as the most appropriate beneficiary.

“We love the good job the centre is doing for the community,” said Ramotshela.

The staffers also spent the day with the children at the centre playing indigenous games then had lunch with the children.

“It made us happy to see the children and the staff happy.

We promote education and we will find a way to bridge the gap for these children.

We are also planning to give career guidance to these children and bursaries where possible,” he added.

The centre’s Lillian Malehase said they were happy and grateful for the visit and the generous donation.

“We are grateful to what the staff of Unisa has done for our children.

This is such a blessing to us and we wish God to bless them,” said Malehase.
