Ford catches fire near Silver Lakes

A blue Ford Eco Sport caught fire on Solomon Mahlangu Drive on Monday morning.

A car caught fire along Solomon Mahlangu Drive on Monday.

It is not clear if the car, a blue Ford Eco Sport, which could be seen burning from the front, was involved in an accident or just caught fire.

According to witnesses, the car was parked along the N4, near the Silver Lakes shopping centre.

This comes amidst the ongoing recall of cars by Ford following a bunch of Ford Kugas catching fire last year.

According to social media reports the vehicle was involved in a multi vehicle accident, but this could not be confirmed.

No comment was received from Tshwane Emergency Services at the time of going to press.

Witnesses on the scene however, say the fire had been put out.

More information will be provided as the story develops.
