Tick-tock, Time Square casino now open

Time Square casino in Menlyn was officially opened in style on Friday.
Members of the Gauteng gambling board, Sun International executives and media gathered for a VIP party at Time Square’s rooftop lounge, Altitude.

Newly crowned Miss SA Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters also joined the party.
The Time Square casino is phase one of a R4 billion Sun International project.
The casino opened its doors to the public on Saturday with an early morning ribbon cutting event.
About 50 invited guests and 100 residents gathered to see what the casino offered.

Time Square is the second largest casino in South Africa with 60 game tables and 2 000 slot machines.
This is Sun International’s largest investment in a casino development in 15 years and forms part of the green Menlyn Maine precinct.
“Every day has been a milestone in this exceptionally exciting development, with the evolution of the site, especially in the past four months, being nothing short of breathtaking,” said Time Square general manager Brett Hoppé.
The casino also boasts 18 new restaurants and bars.
The second phase, an 8 500 seat arena, will be completed in November.
Phase three, The Maslow Time Square hotel, will be completed in March 2018.
