Speaking to the Randfontein Herald in an interview, Thabo Dlamini said the auditions were hosted by the Westonaria NPO Langwenya Empowerment Foundation in partnership with uBuhle Be Africa Art Production, a film production company.
We hosted auditions for our first-time telenovela drama series named Lilanga. I think the auditions went well and we cast more than 100 talented people.
“Out of this number, we were able to unearth 23 excellent actors, 20 good actors, and 19 average actors that we can work with within this upcoming telenovela drama.
“We really found the talent we were looking for and we honestly didn’t expect such an amazing turnout,” said Thabo, who added the auditions attracted people from the neighbouring areas such as Carletonville, as well different parts of Johannesburg.
Asked when the locals can be spotted on our TV screens, Thabo said they will start filming at the end of June. The first episode should air at the beginning of July.
