• Father’s Day car show in Greenhills
Start your engines with dad as the passenger and take him to a car show for Father’s Day hosted by Mrs Randfontein at the Greenhills Sport Stadium on June 18. Time is 10:00 to 17:00. Cost involved. There will be competitions and prizes, a sound competition, potjiekos competition, show and shine, and entertainment for kids. Prizes and trophies up for grabs as well. R10 of each ticket sold will be donated to the RandWest SPCA.

• Youth Day Music Festival
Join a relaxing Youth Day Music Festival at the River Park Garden Amphitheatre on June 16 with live music, good food, full bars, craft beer and gin. • Darts Day planned for Burgershoop
If you have ever thought of yourself as a darts champ, or have even just been interested in the game, why not bring your family along to the Mogale Fun Darts Day. The Mogale City Darts Association will be hosting a fun day where they will teach those interested how to play the game of darts. It will be held on Thursday June 16 at the Krugersdorp Sports Club on the corner of Wagen and Roode Streets in Burgershoop. • Friends of Kloofendal (FroK) events this June
Why not spend the winter with Friends of Kloofendal (FroK)? FroK is a non-profit organisation founded in August 2002. The organisation supports Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo by initiating and driving environment and community projects and activities within Kloofendal Nature Reserve. FroK consists of dedicated guides and volunteers who use their wide variety of knowledge and time to promote education, conservation and community-based projects.

• Diversity on Mellville Koppies
As the nights get colder and the rain peters out, many of the more than 50 types of grasses on Melville Koppies are seeding, as are the two types of clematis. The wind will disperse their seeds where they will lie low, nestle themselves into the undergrowth and wait for the first rains of spring to give them new life. Other plants like the kalanchoe and crassula are in full bloom while the aloes are just starting to bud for their showing from June. Try out the 5km self-guided trail or the 3km heritage trail. If you want to learn more about the history and how living things interact on the Koppies, book a guided tour (book on 079 532 0083 – or be there by 08:30). On the first Sunday of the month join the guided 8km hike. Or take a map and just guide yourselves along the many different paths that criss-cross the Koppies. • Power of Play Zoom Virtual Workshop for Parents
Would you like to more about what your child should be playing and why? Then you should attend the two-hour virtual Power of Play workshop for parents on Tuesday, May 24 from 09:30 to 11:30. • Red Bull Dance Your Style World final coming to Jozi!
Johannesburg will host the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final on Saturday, December 10, 2022. Over 30 countries will bring their best street dancers to the world’s biggest street dance competition. Red Bull Dance Your Style is a dance battle where the emphasis is on bringing people together in the celebration of dance, music and performance, and on recreating the social party atmosphere that all the street dance styles are derived from. The competition is a mixed, all-styles, one-on-one battle for which dancers from any street style discipline can enter. This is a street dance battle with unpredictable music, crowd-voting and outgoing dance personalities. The road to the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final begins with seven audition stops across South Africa culminating in a national final taking place in October in Pretoria. Dancers from all styles and provinces have the chance to showcase their skills and possibly represent South Africa on the world stage in Johannesburg at Montecasino on December 10. Twenty-seven dancers have already earned their spot in their respective countries’ national finals that took place in 2021. Street dancers from around the world will have the opportunity to wow their local audiences and be a part of the Red Bull Dance Your Style 2022 World Final; with many countries still having their national finals take place this year before the World Final. In total, over 60 dancers will be coming to Johannesburg to compete in the World Final, which includes pre-finals and the main event.

• Bell of Hope Charity Ride for Mental Wellness
Ebenezer Psychiatric Home is proud to announce that they are hosting their nineth annual Bell of Hope Charity Ride for Mental Wellness this year. Ebenezer House is a licensed non-profit organisation (NPO 088 960) taking care of fully functional adults suffering from bipolar disorder or schizophrenia. They depend on donations and assistance from the public and corporate sectors to keep the home open and functional. Every year they host a charity road cycle event, the Bell of Hope Charity Ride for Mental Wellness, in the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site. The proceeds of this event go towards sustaining Ebenezer Psychiatric Home in Witpoortjie, Roodepoort. The Bell of Hope Charity Ride for Mental Wellness will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Valverde Eco Hotel in the Cradle of Humankind. Starting times: 07:00 for 50km at R220 per cyclist; 07:30 for 15km at R150 per cyclist, and on the day R250 per cyclist. When one of Marmaduke’s epic fails goes viral, the video catches the eye of a famous trainer who accepts the challenge of transforming Marmaduke into the winner of the World Dog Championship. It’s a wild ride from there with Marmaduke eventually taking centre stage, although not in the way everyone expected.
