Weekend viewing

We’ve got three movies that are perfect for every mood this weekend…

Kick back with a drama-comedy about a young dancer who disguises herself as a man to perform in a struggling drag club; enjoy a true story about a man who went from hero to villain within a matter of days after he discovered a deadly pipe bomb while working as a security guard at the 1996 Summer Olympics; and watch the third instalment of a supernatural horror movie about paranormal investigators who take on one of the most sensational cases of their careers.

Dancing Queens centres around a 23-year-old girl from a small island in the Swedish archipelago with big dancing aspirations. When she’s talked into cleaning at the struggling drag club Queens, the club’s star dancer and choreographer accidentally discover Dylan’s talent. She desperately wants to be a part of the show, but she’s a girl – and it’s a drag show. However, where there’s a will, there’s a way. Now showing on Netflix.

During the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, security guard Richard Jewell discovers a suspicious backpack under a bench in Centennial Park. With little time to spare, he helps to evacuate the area until the incendiary device inside the bag explodes. Hailed as a hero who saved lives, Jewell’s own life starts to unravel when the FBI names him the prime suspect in the bombing. Catch Richard Jewell this weekend on Showmax.

Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren take on one of the most sensational cases of their careers after a cop stumbles upon a dazed and bloodied young man walking down the road. Accused of murder, the suspect claims demonic possession as his defence, forcing the Warrens into a supernatural inquiry, unlike anything they’ve ever seen before. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It is now showing at a cinema near you.
