Mohlakeng’s Lerato the next Miss Teen Commonwealth SA?

Mohlakeng beauty Lerato Diratsagae will be representing Randfontein as a finalist for Miss Teen Commonwealth South Africa at the grand finale on Thursday 25 June in Roodepoort.

Mohlakeng beauty, Lerato Diratsagae will be representing Randfontein as a finalist in the Miss Teen Commonwealth South Africa pageant in Roodepoort on Thursday, 25 June.

In addition to being in contention for the title, the 16-year-old also stands a chance to win R20 000 as grand prize.

However, Lerato said she did not get into the competition for the glitz and glamour, as her sole purpose is to inspire others.

“The reason I entered this pageant is because I want to show young girls that modelling is not only about beauty; it’s about your self-esteem, self-confidence and introspection,” Lerato said.

According to Anel de Swardt, Commonwealth Pageants South Africa’s national director, the pageant aims at empowering teenage girls with the knowledge to become leaders of tomorrow, and focuses on leadership skills, modelling and public speaking skills among others.

“This is a platform for young women to become charity and culture ambassadors within South Africa and the broader international community.

“The title-holders become involved in charitable causes and commit to upholding the aims and objectives of the Commonwealth,” Anel said.
