‘Load-shedding will not affect R’fontein Show’ – organisers

'We would like to assure the public that the Show will go on despite load-shedding' — Randfontein Show coordinator.

Organisers assured the public that the Randfontein Show will go on despite Eskom’s threat of load-shedding.

According to Marcelle Mans, Show coordinator, many questions are being asked about the effect load-shedding will have on the Randfontein Show that takes place at the Greenhills Stadium from 5 to 8 March.

“We would like to assure the public that the Show will go on despite load-shedding. All the stages have backup generators, the rides have generators and the Show office has its own generator. All exhibitors have been requested to supply their town LED lamps, and food stalls will use gas for cooking. There will be LED spotlights around the grounds and security will be on full alert,” she said.

“If Eskom sticks to its schedule, there will only be one night of load-shedding during the big event.”

Joy Hamann, Randfontein Publicity Association (RPA) publicity officer said, “If the lights go out, the Randfontein Show will go on. It will be the shining light in the gloom and darkness of load-shedding.”
