The festive season is set to become a thrilling musical experience as one of the world’s most-loved tribute productions pays homage to the legendary pop icon, Michael Jackson, in HIStory: King of Pop, in Johannesburg this December. The world-famous King of Pop tribute concert is a two-hour musical spectacular, which takes audiences on a nostalgic journey back to MJ’s early days as a member of the Jackson 5, his ground-breaking theatrics in the 80s and his continued reign as the King of Pop into the 21st century.

Having rung in 2019 with a successful performance run in Cape Town earlier in January, it’s now the turn of Johannesburg fans to experience the music, costumes and amazing production celebrating the iconic Michael Jackson, at Theatre of Marcellus at Emperors Palace from 6 to 22 December 2019. • Gender-based violence awareness campaign in Westonaria

The Simelane Heritage Foundation will hold a gender-based violence awareness campaign at the Westonaria Borwa Taxi Rank on Saturday, 23 November. The event starts at 8.30am. The event consist of various activities and speeches by local stakeholders, including police, social workers and pastors. There will also be a 1,5km walk. The reason for this campaign is the alarming increase in incidences of abuse and rape in Westonaria.

• Gogo Christmas party coming to Mohlakeng

SADMON, a social impact agency, in conjunction with Chomaka Catering, is planning to host a Gogo Christmas event for the elderly (bonkgono) in Mohlakeng on Friday, 20 December. The event enjoys the support of the Rand West City Local Municipality and some local businesses.

Bhai’s Café is set to make its national big-screen release on Valentine’s Day 2020. The 100-minute film is filled with drama, romance and good humour. It is produced by Razia Rawoot and Maynard Kraak, who also serves as director. Bhai’s Cafe focuses on “family, urban gentrification and romance with a Bollywood touch” and was filmed entirely on location in Cape Town.
