Calling all Christmas cake lovers

You can help by supporting your local Lions Club and purchase a Lions Club Christmas cake for R100.

It’s that time of the year again when the Lions Clubs sell their famous Christmas cake.

The more than 46 100 Lions Clubs have been selling Christmas cakes since 1975 to fund their projects in the community.

This year is no different – and the traditional Christmas cake sales will benefit the local communities.

Lions Clubs International offers people the opportunity to give something back to their communities through embracing the Lions motto of ‘We serve’. It is said to be the largest service organisations in the world, with its headquarters in Oakbrook, USA.

According to a pamphlet that was made available to the Herald it has 1 338 803 million members. The projects the Lions Clubs embark on include vision programmes, hearing projects, diabetes awareness and education, feeding schemes, assistance to senior citizens, and many more.

You can help by supporting your local Lions Club and purchase a Lions Club Christmas cake for R100. By supporting your local Lions Club, you also support their global service network, thereby helping the club with their volunteer efforts around the world.
