We all know about Oscar Pistorius and appreciate what he has achieved in sport; but that morning on Valentine’s Day changed things.

In terms of the law one is not guilty until proven guilty, and that applies to Pistorius as well.

On the one hand you have a family torn apart by the loss of a daughter and on the other a sport star whose world was turned upside down in an instant.

Only Pistorius knows what happened that morning, but he did admit to killing someone.

Everyone has the right to a fair trial which he got, but there are those who believe the Blade Runner should’ve been found guilty of murder, not culpable homicide.

One then has to ask the question, did Reeva get a fair chance?

While he is awaiting sentencing, many believe Pistorius will not be sent to prison.

If not, what message will it send to South Africans? Would people believe that you can shoot someone and get away with it? Will every single person who commits such a crime say, “I thought it was an intruder”?
