Already cash-strapped Westonaria residents seems to have lost their bid to get the Westonaria Local Municipality to take affordability into account when they implemented new property rates.
The new rates, which has increased by a whopping 40% will come into effect as of 1 July.
All this so that residents of Bekkerdal, Simunye and surrounds can also enjoy the hard-earned municipal services like water and electricity that their neighbours in Westonaria work so hard for.
Fair? I think not.
But n the other hand, what else can the already under pressure municipality do?
