Randfontein residents are seeing red over their continuing struggles on the town’s roads.

It has become so bad that one can hardly drive down the road without encountering some poor soul changing a tyre after hitting one of the many menacing potholes littering the town’s roads.

Social media platforms are abuzz with angry comments from people who have had bad experiences and near misses.

One DA ward councillor, at wit’s end and desperate to get the powers that be to take heed of the community’s complaints actually conducted a count of the potholes in his ward and could barely believe his math when his results indicate in excess of 1 100 potholes in the mostly rural areas of Randpoort, Bootha Plots, Louwmarina, Klein Elandsvlei, Townlands, Dwarskloof, Wheatlands and a portion of Ooster Plots.

This is scary considering that this is only a relatively small part of Randfontein and mostly rural to boot.

It would be interesting to see such statistics on the rest of Randfontein.

The Randfontein Local Municipality has been making use of hired contractors to repair potholes recently.

This, according to people in the know, is scandalous, considering that the municipality has recently bought two pothole repair trucks.

The Herald has uncovered some interesting facts about the pothole situation, which will be published shortly, as soon as our investigation is complete.
