A brutal farm attack had the Randfontein community up in arms last week.

This week a badly decomposed body was discovered and the brother of a prominent Randfontein police officer was abducted, only to be found murdered and dumped in a cave in Pelzvale.

And these are only two of the top crime stories in the town for this week.

Despite an impressive arrest record by the Randfontein SAPS, not to mention a very active community policing forum, we seem to be losing the war against crime in Randfontein.

Police keep telling us that the only way that they can bring down the crime rate in Randfontein is with the help of the community.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson, Captain Appel Ernst, every criminal has a neighbour and if we all stand together and report suspicious activities, we will be able to root the criminals out of our communities.

To this end, the Randfontein Community Policing Forum (CPF) will host a community meeting at the Greenhills Stadium at 7pm on Tuesday 4 February.

So why not join them and find out what we as a community can do to help eradicate crime from our town?
