Petrol strike gets nasty

The nationwide petroleum industry strike got off to a peaceful start in Randfontein on 9 September but, as it turns out, it was too good to last.

Hundreds of workers gathered in the Randfontein CBD on 10 September and vowed to close down every petrol station in Randfontein by force if need be.

Strikers have warned that they will not back down and that they will continue to disrupt activities at petrol stations over the coming days, so be cautious when stopping at your local garage to fill up with petrol.
