Meet a Super Tiger – Thobani Mlondi Nhlangothi

Greenhills — Thobani Mlondi Nhlangothi (19) is the Greenhills Super Tigers' captain with big football aspirations.

Born and bred in KZN, Thobani moved to Gauteng in 2013.

He went on to join the Greenhills Super Tigers in 2019 and was given the responsibility of captain after achieving success. He currently plays as an attacking midfielder for the team. One of his greatest achievements for the club was when he was rewarded with a trophy for being the Top Goal Scorer.

His football journey first began in 2010 when he watched his first World Cup game on television. After scrutinising professional football players, he realised that he had a passion for the sport.

He then decided to join a club where he could gain experience and grow.

“I thought I knew everything until I joined the club. Being part of the team humbled me. Playing football can be physically and mentally challenging at times but you have to keep motivating yourself. In that regard training and endurance is the best way to motivate yourself and others,” he said.

He dreams of becoming just as great as renowned football player and Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I would like to acknowledge my coach, Bongani 'Ace' Duiker, who has helped me develop my talent. Without him, I would not have made it this far,” Thobani concluded.
