WATCH: Randgate boxers sting like bees in the ring

Randgate Boxing Club’s Kloupas brothers recently participated in the Gauteng Youth and Elite Championships flying the Randfontein flag high.

Keenan Kloupas participated from May 10 to 12 and again from May 17 to 19 bagging the title of Gauteng Elite Featherweight bronze medalist.

Speaking to the Randfontein Herald, Keenan said he was very proud of his achievement.

“I worked hard. This includes training twice a day,” the young boxing star said.

Keenan has always liked sports but boxing was closest to his heart as it provided a bigger challenge. After watching American boxing legend Floyd Mayweather on television, he has been involved in the sport for over six years.

“My biggest motivation is to become better than I was yesterday. One day I want to be a world champion like Floyd. I want to be like him,” he said.

Donell Kloupas participated from May 17 to 18 and again from May 24 to 25 winning both his bouts. One of the victories in the championships was against an international boxer. He is also the current Gauteng Bantamweight champion. Mayweather too, is his idol and role model.

“I am extremely proud of my achievement. Floyd is an outstanding boxer, and I started following him when he won his first fight. I then watched more videos about him on YouTube and I want to be an inspiration to other youngsters similar to what Floyd was to me.”

Donell has since been boxing for more than five years.
