Bowling club hosts fun day for first-timers

Any could join in for a friendly game of bowling during Randfontein Bowling Club's fun day.

Randfontein Bowling Club hosted their frequent fun day on May 5.

Club president Kobus Britz explained they host a fun day every first Sunday of the month during summer. The aim is to encourage people who don’t regularly bowl to try it.

“We want to give them a chance to try it out and have fun.”

He noted the games are all friendly and social. In general, they have draws to pick a team, but on their fun days people bring friends and family and they have some fun competition.

Their club members range from young to old. Kobus added that their youngest member is 17 years old and their eldest is 94. He also mentioned two members, Zaden (9) and Ruben Calitz (8) who also came for a fun day and are now making big waves on the bowling field with their coach Cheryl van der Westhuizen.
