Three private schools go head-to-head in athletics

Three Christian private schools went head-to-head in athletics recently to encourage playing sports.

Kardia House International recently hosted a Private Christian Schools Athletics Day to strengthen bonds.

The schools that attended were Kardia House International, Barachel Christian Academy, and Grace Christian Academy.

Athletes could participate in items such as shot put, turbo javelin, 100m, 400m, and 800m to name a few. There were girls and boys from U11 to U18. To add a bit of fun into the mix, parents, as well as teachers had the chance to race in a 100m event while schools also had the chance to participate in the deadlift item.

This is according to deputy principal Joy Kruger who added that the athletics day was organised as a means to initiate friendly competitions between the private schools.

“Since we are private schools we are unable to compete against other schools in sport. However, if we stand together with other private schools it will be possible to equally compete in sports. With this event we hope to support the private schools while allowing each learner to be part of sport,” Joy stated.

The private schools now plan to gather on the netball courts as the season commences on April 26.
