Run united for all women, PinkDrive at Totalsports Women’s Race
Organisers of the 2023 Totalsports Women's Race announced an impressive prize purse and encouraged runners to do it for all women (grandmothers, aunts, sisters, mothers and daughters).
The Totalsports Women’s Race will boast an impressive combined prize purse of R202 500 in 2023. Taking place in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban on National Women’s Day (Wednesday, August 9), runners in each city will be able to compete for their share of the prize.
“We are proud to add to the Women’s Day celebrations by offering a combined prize purse of R202 500 at the Totalsports Women’s Race in 2023,” said managing director of Stillwater Sports Michael Meyer.
“That equates to an R67 500 prize purse per city [Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban]. Prize money has been allocated to the Top Ten finishers in the open category, with the open winner taking home R12 000, the second-place finisher R10 000 and the third-place finisher R8 000. Prize money has also been allocated to the top three finishers in the junior, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+ categories.”
In closing Michael added, “We are proud to encourage excellence in women’s running in South Africa, and what better platform to do so than at South Africa’s largest Women’s Day celebration, the Totalsports Women’s Race.”
