RandMark geared for 2023 Race to the Sun

It's almost that time of the year again for the grueling Race to the Sun and RandMark confirmed that 28 locals will be participating.

RandMark has 28 riders that will be taking part in this year’s Race to The Sun. It will be their third year competing.

Club spokesperson Lee Kotze said this is an annual gravel race that will take place on Saturday, May 6 which starts at Hartbeespoort and finish at Sun City.

“The race distance is estimated to be around 160km and riders need to complete the distance in one day”.

She explained that riders who finish the race in more than seven hours will receive a black medal. Riders will also receive a bronze medal should they finish between six and seven hours; a silver for finishing between five and six hours and a gold for finishing in under five hours.

According to Lee, it will be a first for some riders while others aim to improve their personal best.

“Riders [and most of the Randmark riders] can do the full 160km distance. They can also choose to do the event in teams of two which is a distance of 80km. Riders are also welcome to participate in the E-Bike category. Randmark has riders participating in all forms of the event including the E-bike category.”

She added that it’s less than a month before race day and riders are giving it their all at training.
