Men’s netball team making moves in the fraternity

Six players from the local team were selected for the national squad.

Local men’s netball team the Brothers Netball Club is breaking barriers in the sporting code and has been ranked second in the country at the Males National Netball Championships Final Standing for 2023.

This comes after taking on numerous teams from March 27 to April 1 at Royal Bafokeng in Rustenburg during the Males National Netball Championships.

While they were defeated in some of the games, they won others and managed to bag the second spot.

The team played in the A division, which is regarded as the highest division. They took on Ekurhuleni where they lost the game. They also suffered the same defeat against Capricorn. However, their luck changed for the better after they won against Ethekwini. They also played against team Cetshwayo where they scored a victory.
They also won against team Johannesburg.

They also played in the semi-finals as fourth place qualifiers against Capricom where they beat them by 20 goals to play Ekurhuleni in the finals
That’s where they lost by 7 goals.

Tumi Sekhoakone from the Netball team said they enjoyed the tournament

“We enjoyed the tournament and it was not easy. It was broadcasted by SuperSport and it was of high quality we had six players that were selected into the national squad. We had the most players chosen from one district and it was a beautiful sight to see,” said Sekhokoane.

He added that those who made it to the national team are Shiko Mokaila, Phillip Ntsoelengoe, Romeo Nqcaku, Itumeleng Mahanoe, Zimi Mbungwane, and William Lethoko.
