Spartans Karate Club brings home gold

'They truly stamped their authority over the regionals and made sure that the club is remembered' – Sensei after karate students make Westonaria proud in Roodepoort.

The Spartans Karate Club which is based in Westonaria brought home multiple medals after competing in Roodepoort.

Spartans public relations officer Martin Venter said 10 of their athletes travelled to Roodepoort on Saturday, November 19 for the West Rand Karate Federation Development Championships and 2023 Elite trials where the athletes were able to test themselves against the very best.

“The winners from this championship will go on to represent the West Rand in the upcoming Gauteng Provincial Championship in February 2023.”

He explained that athletes of the club took part in Kata (types of forms) and Kumite (fighting) where they earned a total of seven gold, six silver and four bronze medals.

“They truly stamped their authority over the regionals and made sure that the club is remembered.”

Sensei Enzo Pillay said that the students have grown so much in the time they have been training in the dojo and are gaining confidence and control.

Now they are aiming to become the best of the best.
