Football team in need of help

The challenges that the team is facing are the lack of equipment such as soccer kits, balls cones, training kits and bibs.

A local football club is calling out for help and is in need of donations in order to secure kits and the necessary equipment needed for the up-and-coming soccer stars.

This is a plea by the club’s chairperson Kebapetse Morapedi and head coach Freddy Kebotlhale.

The club is registered as a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) and is based in Randfontein. It has a total of 135 players who feature in the under 13, 15, 17 and 23 teams.

Morapedi said the club was established in 2013 and is aimed at getting children off the streets, while also teaching them how to play soccer.

He added that they are facing challenges when it comes to getting the players ready for games.

“The challenges that the team are facing is the lack of equipment such as soccer kits, balls, cones, training kits and bibs. We are also in need of soccer boots for some of our players whose parents cannot afford to buy for them, as well as transport money to attend the games and for stadium bookings. The objective of the team is to take young boys and girls off the streets and not have them fall into the temptation of drugs, alcohol, substance abuse and stealing.

“We want to work together both the team and the parents, to build a better future for the young upcoming players,” said Morapedi who added that they want to also promote, foster and develop the game of soccer.

To offer a helping hand, Morapedi can be contacted on 081 377 9091.
