Randfontein cops come out tops in two sporting events

One cop took part in two combat rifle championships while another completed the Comrades Marathon.

Two police officers from Randfontein are flying their stations’ flag high by coming out on top in two different sport codes.

Warrant Officer Michael Bester is the overall winner in Combat Rifle at both the North West Championships and Gauteng South Championships held at the Dirkie Uys Shooting Range in Potchefstroom during early October winning four gold, one silver and two bronze medals in the process.

In running, Sergeant Matome Molokomme bagged a bronze medal after completing this year’s Comrades Marathon in under eight hours and with a finishing time of seven hours and 38 minutes. He also took part in the Soweto Marathon held on November 6.

Randfontein Police Station Commander Brigadier Mashole Manamela is very proud of the members.

“Not only are they there to protect and serve our community, but they are also excelling in sport and keeping themselves fit in the process,” said a proud Manamela.
