Magalies Monster and Platinum Trail Run move to August

The Fedhealth Magalies Monster MTB Classic and the Fedhealth Platinum Trail have moved to Saturday, 28 and Sunday, 29 August respectively.

The Fedhealth Magalies Monster MTB Classic and the Fedhealth Platinum Trail have moved to Saturday, 28 and Sunday, 29 August 2021 respectively.

The decision to move the events from June to August was made the day after President Cyril Ramaphosa’s national address (Sunday, 30 May) that announced a return to Lockdown Level 2 for South Africa in light of a possible third wave of Covid-19 infections. Organisers confirmed that the new dates would be released the following week.

Fedhealth is a responsible player in the health sector, and we support the very difficult decision to move the events to later in the year,” said Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports.

“We are, however, happier to postpone the events rather than cancelling them as we are optimistic that restrictions will be eased over the next couple of months. We are excited to announce that the events will move to August, with the Fedhealth Magalies Monster MTB Classic taking place on Saturday, 28 August, followed by the Fedhealth Platinum Trail on Sunday, 29 August.”

“We will at all times adhere to government regulations with regard to the hosting of events during the pandemic period,” continued Michael.

There is a long list of requirements that need to be met to ensure that the event is hosted in a safe and responsible manner. We will continue to be in constant communication with the local municipality and Disaster Management Officials to ensure the safety of entrants, staff and external stakeholders at the event.

“We can’t wait to welcome mountain bikers and trail runners to the start line at the ATKV Buffelspoort in August.”
