Randmark members reunited!

Randmark club members, non-members and other fitness fanatics gathered in Greenhills on Saturday, 19 September after the long lockdown.

Members of the Randmark Walk, Run and Cycle Club officially reunited on Saturday, 19 September after months of lockdown by hosting a duathlon event.

Lee Kotze, media representative for the club, described the mood among the members as jovial as many only interacted virtually during the separation caused by lockdown restrictions.

“Normally as a club, we do about two to three duathlons a year, usually during winter, but this was not possible. Unfortunately, this year was quite different; we had to adhere to lockdown regulations so we have only started with our duathlons now,” Lee said.

She went on to say the annul duathlons are meant to forge relationships between the runners and cyclists of the club.

She added that after nearly six months being unable to meet, members were over the moon to see each other; giving the event a good turnout.

“Although those who were in attendance were members of the club, we also saw good participation from non-members who are fitness fanatics. Some of the club member brought their friends along to test their strength and endurance,” Lee said.

“We reached out to people on social media because our main purpose was to revive the club by bringing people together. Our aim was to also let people know that we at Randmark are still here and ready for action,” Lee said.

It is not about about winning today; in fact we don’t really know who wins at the end of the day. We’re doing this simply to bring people together and socialise, so that friendships can be made and we can grow,” Lee said.
