Dog lovers brave weather conditions for SPCA’s Pawlympics

'We want the public to know that we are still operating because some are under the impression that we have closed' – Randwest SPCA.

Sue Wernberg was one of the few dog lovers to support the Randwest SPCAs Pawlympics fundraiser held at Laerskool Randfontein on Sunday, 1 March, despite the rainy weather.

Natasha Willemse, Randwest SPCA spokesperson said unfortunately, there was a poor turnout and only three stallholders.

However, Natasha said despite the disappointment there were some eager dog owners who braved the wet weather.

Many of them told the Herald they had pitched up to show their undying love and support for the financially ailing SPCA.

“This was just for us to get on our feet again. We want the public to know that we are still operating because some are under the impression that we have closed,” Natasha said.
