Youth braves the rain during weekend practice

Although Randfontein experienced cloudy conditions this past weekend, Socca Kidz braved some rain to train.

Instead of sitting at home and watching cartoons on TV, young and aspiring soccer players braved the rain on the morning of Saturday, 18 January to brush up their soccer skills at the Greenhills Stadium.

Sipho Ranoka, head coach of Socca Kidz, said sometimes challenges such as rain are needed for underdeveloped players to advance their skills.

“That is how you get to a professional level, because even if there are no lights and the weather is not ideal, the game has to go on. It is very important for the players to adapt to all weather conditions, whether it is hot, cold or rainy. Players should not be deterred by such conditions,” Sipho said.

He added that the training is done in accordance with the ages of the players. “For example, we train the very young players, some of them only two years old, between 20 and 30 minutes per session,” Sipho said.
