Melissa Badenhorst Dance Studio held its annual concert at the Randfontein Golf Club on Saturday, 30 November.

The theme was Lost in Wonderland.

Melissa Badenhorst, owner of the studio said the concert was aimed at giving dancers an opportunity to exhibit their talent on stage and dazzle the audience with a variety of performances.

“It’s a showcase of the students’ talent and the hard work they have put in this year because it is important as a dancer to get the opportunity to perform on stage and have fun,” Melissa said.

She added that different styles were showcased, including ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary and lyrical dance.

Asked about the audience’s response, Melissa said everyone was positive.

The lead dancers of the night included Marié Landsberg (as Alice), Chelné Olivier (as Mad Hatter), Nicole Willemse (as the White Queen), Caitlin de Sousa (as the Red Queen), Nicolene Jacobs and Gemma Botha (as the pair of identical twins in Alice in Wonderland namely Tweedledee and Tweedledum) Delané Janse van Vuuren (as Cheshire Cat) and Lailah Matthews (as Rabbit).

Melissa said her dancers also recently participated in the Roodepoort Festival of Dance and the Randfontein Arts and Culture Association and fared extremely well.
