Twenty Badirile Primary School U/15 soccer players were selected by the Brandvlei Business Forum and the South African Football Association (SAFA) during the OR Tambo Games at the Badirile Sports Complex on Saturday 18 May.
According to Motlatsi Sebolao, chairperson of the Brandvlei Business Forum, players who were selected will take part in another leg of a selections process where they will be up against players from various parts of the Rand West. The best players will then be selected to form a squad for the Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM).
Motlatsi said some of the players were awarded for their performance on the field and all those who participated in the selection process were given medals.
“During the games, we awarded three of the players with trophies for finishing in first, second and third place. These players performed exceptionally well,” Motlatsi said.
He thanked all members of the Business Forum who helped to make the selection process possible.
“We would like to give thanks to all those who have been part of this; those who have helped with catering and sponsoring the prizes,” Motlatsi added.
