Basketball fever hits R’fontein

The West Rand Basketball Association has put the West Rand on the map in terms of basketball in Gauteng.

The game of basketball is growing on the West Rand. This was evident when our very own team, the Mohlakeng Flames practised for an upcoming match.

Thanks to the West Rand Basketball Association (WRBA), residents of the whole of the West Rand now have the opportunity to play the sport they love.

According to Rodney Mushwana, marketing and communication officer of WRBA, “We recently started our own league called the West Rand Basketball League, which is the first time the West Rand has put a basketball-structured association in place”.

Teams participating in the league are from Kagiso, Khutsong, Mohlakeng, Westonaria, Cosmo City, Carletonville, Poortjie and Swanieville, and they play matches on every second weekend.
