R’fontein EFC fighter in the big league

Local EFC fighter, Quinton Rossouw will soon be taking part in a big fight that he has been training for since he lost the Last Fight Standing Competition in 2016.

Quinton Rossouw is a fighter at heart and will soon be taking part in one of his biggest Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) fights yet.

The 27-year-old will be fighting against Shaw Dean, a United Kingdom-based fighter in the light heavyweight category at Time Square in Menlyn, Pretoria on Saturday, 16 March.

According to his coach, Shihan Henk Pelser of Mile High Kickboxing Club, Quinton has been looking forward to this fight for some time.

“Quinton has been training really hard despite changing jobs recently. He has been working long hours but he is training even harder than before. He does a lot of training and focuses on sparring to prepare for this big fight,” he said.

He has been competing for almost five years and Henk said that this is the fight that Quinton has been waiting for. After this fight, he will be training hard to compete internationally.

“Previously he fought in The Last Fighter Standing Competition in 2016 but unfortunately lost. This time we will not come second,” Henk said.

Quinton is trained to compete in various fighting styles such as Shidokan karate, kickboxing, wrestling, Jujitsu, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and cage fighting and feels most at home when he is in the ring. Henk said that Quinton’s future is very bright.

“I’m honoured to train a fighter like Quinton and now that the club has found a new home in Greenhills, we are even better equipped to train fighters of this calibre,” he said.
