A shot at the national equestrian stage

Seven riders on the West Rand including two from Randfontein will have a shot to prove themselves on the national equestrian stage.

Kyra Cronje and Mischa Rothman will have a shot to prove themselves on the national equestrian stage.

Kyra and Mischa, both from Randfontein, along with five other riders on the West Rand, namely Dane Steyn, JC Oberholzer, Keila Schutte-Hanekom, Lisha Vorster and Michelle Gouws are South African National Equestrian Schools Association (Sanesa) riders who have made it through to the nationals to be held at Fourways Riding Centre on Friday, 28 September.

On Sunday, 9 September, Oppistal, a fully fledged equine recreational and rehab centre in Krugersdorp, held a fundraiser in conjunction with their Country Fair Show in which the above-mentioned riders took part.

Yolanda Steyn, complementary health therapist at Oppistal said, “The Sanesa riders (as well as some of our other clients) had to come up with their own outfits, props, music and display to entertain the crowds. This is exactly what they did – showing off their strong points and horse agility. The show was in collaboration with a fashion parade hosted by Shikirah Roth, Miss Teen World.

Oppistal was proud to host the celebrity judges. It was a fantastic day and we appreciate all the people who came out to support us in the chilly weather. There will be more to come in the future.”

Yolanda added, “These children put a lot of time and effort into juggling school work and sport with their horse-riding activities. We all know how difficult that is, with parents also working during the week and trying to get their children to riding lessons when they can.”
