What not to miss in sport this weekend!

Here’s what’s happening in the sporting world on 18 and 19 August.

The Herald has compiled a list of some must-see sporting action to be broadcast on television on Saturday, 18 August and Sunday, 19 August.

SATURDAY, 18 AUGUST:

• Rugby:

The Rugby Championship is back! Don’t miss the very first weekend of action as the Southern Hemisphere’s four big nations namely the Wallabies, Springboks, All Blacks and Pumas go head-to-head. First up are Australia and New Zealand who will clash in Sydney at 11.50am. The Boks will be in action about five hours later at 5pm when they welcome Argentina in Durban.

Other rugby action not to miss out on includes the Mitre 10 Cup (New Zealand’s domestic rugby competition) from 7am between Auckland and Counties Manukau, followed by Bay of Plenty against Taranaki at 9.30am. Then tune in at 12.15pm when France and Wales lock horns, followed by the SA Schools against England at 4pm – both mouthwatering U/18 clashes.

Also catch four SA school teams namely Boland and Oakdale as well as Grey College and Paul Roos go head-to-head at 12.10pm and 1.55pm respectively.

• Football:

The 2018/ 19 local Absa Premiership kicks off the Saturday with a clash between Polokwane and Baroka at 2.55pm, followed by Cape Town City and Golden Arrows at 5.55pm, as well as Wits and SuperSport United at 8.10pm.

Then tune in from 1.20pm for some second-round action in the 2018/ 19 English Premier League. A clash not to miss is Chelsea against Arsenal at 6.20pm.

If that doesn’t tick all the boxes for you, try the following …

• Day one of the third test between England and India (cricket) from 11.55am

• First semi-final of the Cincinnati Masters (tennis) at 8pm

• Stage 3 of the 2018 Arctic Race of Norway (cycling) at 3.30pm

• Four men’s and women’s teams in action in the Premier Hockey League (PHL) (hockey) from 7.45am until 3.50pm.

• IAAF Diamond League action in Birmingham (athletics) from 2.55pm

• Football:

More Absa Premiership action continues with clashes between Celtic and Orlando Pirates at 2.55pm.

If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, try the following …

• Day two of the third test between England and India (cricket) from 11.55am

• Second semi-final and final of the Cincinnati Masters (tennis) at 1am and 10pm respectively

• 2018 NASCAR Cup Series (motorsport) from 1.30am

• The Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) World Challenge Cup (rhythmic gymnastics) from 11am

• Two men’s and three women’s teams in action in the Premier Hockey League (PHL) (hockey) from 7.45am until 4.45pm.

• WWE SummerSlam kick-off show (wrestling) from 11pm
