Local soccer teams and supporters can look forward to an exciting tournament in September.

Organisers Lebo Chappie and Wesi Makgisa invite local soccer fanatics to sign up for the first annual Pink House Soccer Tournament, which will take place at the Westonaria Sports Complex during the weekends from 15 to 24 September.

According to Wesi, soccer plays a big role in the community, as it helps keep the youth off the streets and gives players a chance to mingle with like-minded individuals while getting exercise.

“Our theme for the tournament is education, sport, and health. We want the community to understand the importance of sports and exercise and we have invited Lenmed Randfontein Private Hospital to help us create awareness around HIV during the tournament. The local library will also be here to inform the community of their services. The municipality is very supportive of our initiative,” Wesi said.

The closing date for the registration is Sunday, 26 August and the affiliation fee is R1 500 per team.

“We have exciting prizes for the winners. The team in first place will receive R10 000, the team in second place will get R5 000 and the team in third place will go home with R2 500,” Wesi added.

Organising the tournament is Lebo’s way of giving back to the community.

“The community is so supportive of my business, the Pink House, that I am excited to be able to give something back. We are excited to see the tournament grow over the years,” Lebo said.

If you want to sign your team up for the tournament, you can contact Lebo on 073 036 6322 or Wesi on 073 414 0514.
